Salem's Lot

I love books, and I always find time to read them, even when I have a lot of things to do. Usually is before I go sleep, when I am comfortable in my bed, then I can relax and enjoy the lecture. It is because in the morning there is no time and usually in the afternoon I am busy with othe rstuff.

I also always take my book with me when I am travelling. There is no better way to spend the time in the train or a bus than a book! Maybe music, but with a book the time pass really fast. I used to read in pubblic transports but now my flat is very close to the university and to the city centre so I don't youse trams and buses anymore.

Now I am reading "Salem's Lot", a horror fiction novel, written by Stephen King in 1975. Funny story about that book. When I was around 11 years old, I saw with my cousin a horror movie about vampires. The film was old, and all I've remembered that it was very scary and deeply terrifying. After all these years I still remember the music which made me get goose bumps all! Few years ago I tried to find that film but i failed.

Last month, I was at the library and there was some kind of Stephen King's day and all of his books was on sale. So I decided to buy this one. I opened and I started to read the introduction written by the author... and I found out that the film I was looking for was based on this book. It was a film from 1987 directed by Larry Cohen. I immediatly found it and watched it. Maybe it doesn't seem as scary as I remembered it, but still have something that make me feel the thrill.

What a period!

This may is so exhausting! We have so much things to do. It is hard to get focused on one thing because there are thousands of new things coming up every single day... I really can't wait this to finish. Instead of walking at the park and enjoy the sun we have to read, write essays and make some linguistic analysis... which are fine during the winter but I think that we are too tired after all this year. And the spring came certainly too late.

And I can not even say that the things are getting better... the exams are coming! Another chance to feel insecure, anxious and fearful.

Hey, You there! Stay strong! The summer is coming!

Spring, are you there?

It looks like this year spring has totally forgot about Poland and specially about Poznań. I was so happy about it to come and now I am just sad. I am no more even upset. It is just sad. This weather, the rain and this cold. It feels like the rainy autumn came to visit us again.

Who knows, maybe the summer will make it up to us with an amazing, long, hot summer and with a kind, nice and gold autumn? I hope so, because everyone is just tired of this grey and cloudy sky. Wht's the metter with this weather?

I keep beleving that the sun will come.. soon, veeery soon!!! As James Hetfield sings in The Day That Never Comes - "The sun will shine, this I swear"

And for now just liesten to some good music and grab a cup of tasty coffe!

Wedding time!

Two weeks ago, I had the honour to partecipate at a wedding. My best firend's sister was getting married, and he asked me to join him and partecipate at this special day. I agreed without hesitation because I love weddings! It is the time when you can but on the most beautiful dress you have, and do all the beauty stuff which sometimes you don't have time to do. I was super exited about it and also a bit nervous because I knew only a few people of their family and I dind't know what to expect.

It turned out that it was amazing! I can't remember when I've danced that much as at this wedding. We had a lot of fun and I've met a lot of nice and kind people, grooms's and bride's friends and the rest of the family. I definitly look forward to participate at the other one.. as a guest, of course!

Crazy month!

What a crazy month! A lot of things happened, I can't even realize how fast we've reached may! For easter I've spend a week in Italy, at my mom's house. It was a wonderful time, no stress, no worries, just home! I ate a lot of good dishe's and drank some ofe the most delisciouse Italian wine! the wheather wasn't always perfect but what is the most important that I had a chance to spend a few days with my family. That's are the most precious moments and we have to appreciate them a lot!

I also had a chance to see some places near my mother's town. I've been in San Gimignano and Certaldo, wich is the city where Boccacio was born! it's totally charming, small village in the middle of Tuscany. This are the place I love the most..small, old villages situated up on a hill. It is breathtaking!

April 7

The time pass so fast! I remember Christmas, New Year Eve, Janurary... it's seem to be yesterday! But we are in the middle of semestre, at the begining of spring and I really don't know how fast we passed through this months!

Sometimes I just sit for a while and think what I was doing last year at the same day. I was in Wrocław. That's for sure, and I think that I was different. I think about how I've changed in this year. I clearly learned a lot of thinks, also a lot of things have changed since that day. It is strange because I never think about such things, during a whole week I usually only get focused on daily stuff. I appreciate that sometimes I give myself this kind of reflections, it's is important to realize where our lifes are going!

This is also a special day for me, beacuse it's one of my best friends birthday! I know Jarek since I was in primary school, and we are still very close toghether! I wish you all the best!!!

BOVSKA

I would like to introduce to you a polish singer who I discovered lately. Maybe she is not new to everyone, but I heard her music a few months ago.  Mrs Magda Grabowska-Wacławek, stage name Bovska.

I must admit that at first her music was a bit strange for me, I liked only a couple of songs and she wasn't very a attractive artist for me. I felt courious about her because, finally, something new came on the polish music market. She was absolutely unsusual since the first sounds and for me she is far away from all the trash music that artist use to make nowadays. Her song "Kaktus" catch me the most! I was listening to it all days, again and again! BOVSKA - KAKTUS

A week ago I had a pleasure to partecipate at her concert in Wrocław! I was so suprised about her! I thought that she is very calm, peaceful and toned down person. It turns out that she is the opposite! She is so powerful, coluorful and vivid that she left me spechless from the start to the end. She field the room with an amazing energy, she started to dance and jump all around the stage. I was that suprised because her songs which are available on Youtube are not that energetic as she showed us at the gig.

I think that she is the best choice for those who would like to know some knew kind of music this spring! If you will ever have the chance to listen to Bovska live, go and seee it yourself. She is like the rappresentation of the spring - she is bright, sunny, full of colour, energy, sun and smile :)

Why is Pulp Fiction the best movie on the world?

I adore Quentin Tarantino! He is one of my favourite people on the world! He is so smart, funny and extremly ironic. He shows it in every film he make. His films are something more than an ordinary cinema production. They are intriguing, well directed and full of stories that keep crossing eachother till the end. These are masterpieces, without a doubt! I've choose Pulp Fiction because it was the first Tarantino's film I ever saw. I was around twelve years old. It left me spechless. I couldn't get how he made it work, how he actually gave the sense to all of the chapters and brought it to the one conclusion. That's why I made a list of things that probably made me love this film.

1) Division into parts - it surly was the first film that I saw with that king of scenario. Every chapter tells one story which at first might seem completely seoarate but at the end they start to make sense.

2) The cast - till Pulp Fiction I only remembered John Travolta from "Saturday Night Fever" and it was amazing to see him playing the part of a gangster. Bruce Willis and Uma Thurman were also absolutely great.

3) The soundtrack - I would like to know how many time Tarantino had spend on choosing those tracks to the movie but they fit there like any others could possibly fit! I started to appreciate the music when I was older but it gave me a trill since I've heard it(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4cLmXml8O0)

4) Dialogues - I saw Pulp Fiction with many of my friends and some of them can't watch it with me anymore because sometimes I speak with the actors, while watching I keep telling actors lines. I'm not doing it for upset my friends I just can't stop to do it. The dialogues are so great that I can't stop myself from doing it.

5) Details - the movie is complete. From the top to the bottom - it is just perfect, The details are in this film like the cherry on the cake. Words, things they are using, clothes, comic inserts - they all made an unique atmosphere of an incredibly good film .

For those who had never seen it I strongly encourage to do it ASAP! And fot those who had seen it - do it once again! :)

Pavia

Today I wanna write about a city which immensly suprised me! I went there fo my first Eramsus exchange. At first I wasn't happy about it because I was hoping to going to Rome! Obviously I had no idea of where Pavia is and what is it's history. I was only a little disappointed for a while but then I started to enjoy the idea of going to study abroad, no matter what the place it was. When I got there I was with my mom and a friend who also came there for study. We had a lot of lagguages and it was raining. And then we had to walk a lot but once arrived at the dormitory it was axctually nice.

As soon as I started visit the city I deeply fell in love with the streets, buildings and with the city itselef.  The atmosphere was fantastic! Pavia is a town situated in north Italy, in Lombardy region. It's very close to Milan. When I visit Italy I usually choose the centre of the peninsula so I had no idea of the cherm of the north architecture. First months was hard because my dormitory was 1 hour from the centre. And after 10pm there was no public transport at the city so I had to walk a lot and I actually got lost thousands of time before I found the shortest way. But every single step was worth it because it was a real adventure. It brings back so many incredible memories which I want to double with another exchange! This time - Florence!

I highly recomand you to visit Pavia! No words can describe its beauty. I am sure that you we'll be as exited about it as I am! Above it's a photo of Ponte Coperto by night.

What about women?

Today we celebrate a very special day - International Woman's Day! It special because during this day we feel important and unique. We received gifts, flowers and wishes from all male friends, dads and uncles, we feel special, loved and appreciated.
But first of all, we, as woman, have to remember why we are celebrating this day and because of whom! We have to remember all these women who faught strongly for make a better future. I am greatful to all of them, who sacrificed their lifes for make a world a better place for every single girl.

Personally, I would like to wish to all of us, to be less mean to others women, because the power and the strenght lies on unity. Sometimes we forget that and we shouldn't. Toghether we are powerfull and we can to amazing things, like the ladies which fought for our rights.
I also want you all to be yourself and to belive in yourselfs, even if it might sound like a cliche, but it is true. We can do spectacular things and every single one of us is AWESOME!

Spring is coming

After a long and really harsh winter, step by step, we can finally start to see that it might the time of spring to come. Even if the calendar spring it's like a month far away, as soon as the temperature has risen and nobody is freezing outside anymore, everyone around started to smell spring!
This is the time when I really appreciate the value of the sun. The time when even a small and innocent ray of sunshine make most people happier and nicer.

For me the sun is like salvation and a kind of gratification for all past gloomy, dark days of winter. I am a meteoropathic person, rain cause that I'm highly melanconic and sad, when it's windy I'm very anxious, when there is a lot of snow I'm calm because usually when there is a lot of snow on the streets everthing it's very bright and that's fine for me, also because when there is a lot of snow the temperature is not that low and it's simply pleasent. And finally when the sun start to shine I am happy to get out of the bed and I'm ready to do stuff. When the weather is beautiful I just can't stay at home, it feels like a waste of time. So I always go for a walk or I organise some bicycle trip.

It feels so awesome when you can go outside without a thousand clothes on and I really can't wait for it!

Mountain trip

I had a chance to visit polish mountains during my winter break and I decided to visit Zakopane. I went there for a few days without any plans of what to do. Once arrived at the hotel what caught my attention was the weather. The temperature was higher than at Poznań. That was a suprise because I expected an incredible cold. My room was small and there was no super view from the window but it didn't bother me at all because i didn't spent there a lot of time. Basically, I was there only in the evening because we spent every single moment outside.

It was so amazing to walking between the mountains and admire their hugeness. The mountains make me feel so small but it's a nice feeling. I had visited the city, I tried the traditional mountain meals and went to a few ski slops. Last time I had the ski on my feet was a long time ago and I was afraid to had forgot how to skiing but it turned out that I can still do it.

Skiing was one of the things that I liked the most during this short holidays. I also loved the ice labirynth which is the biggest on the world. It was made this year by only 40 mens. I had a lot of fun while trying to find the escape. I definitly will return there on summer because I would love to reach the peak of Giewont mountain!

Coocking problem

I hate coocking. I really do. It so stressful for me. I also can't cook and I'm wandering if I hate it because I am not able to do it right or the opposite. Sometimes I see a nice and easy recipe and I think wooow, I will make it! Of course it never happened! It's just that I don't know how to move in the kitchen, all that stuff makes me nervous. Usually coocking requires a lot of differents pots, knifes and it make me sick that I have to use all this things and wash them after all...oh god. It is not that I eat only sandwiches of course, but I try to use 3 ingidientes max and one pot. This is the level of meals that can make and I do it. What i mostly cook is pasta. Pasta is one of the reason why I love Italy. You only have to cook some pasta, add some sauce, some vegetables, wipe off some parmesan cheese and done!!!! 20 or less and you have a tasty meal!! Isn't it incredible? I think it is. All my friends knows that in my house they can eat two things: what they make for themselves or pasta. I sometimes try to do something else for my boyfriend but after all ideas he says "hey, why don't you make me some spaghetti's?" I don't know if he actually likes it or just eat it for please me, important is that he eats and doesn't complain.

So, for everyone who has the same problem... trust me! There is nothing better that pasta!

Keep calm and...study!

I am one of these person that must have something to do, otherwise I get boring and I feel extremely uncomfortable with myself. Of course, sometimes I appreciate days when I really don't have to do anything and I can just lay in bad without any remorses. But if it is more than a few days I get very, very lazy. This is what happen to me after every holidays or christmas break.
I feel lost, I don't know how to get back to the reality. I have enormous problems with getting up early, and I mean it. It seems like the worst think on earth and when i hear the alarm clock I panic. And when i think about my responsabilities at the University I got an immediate headache.

Now, how get back to the normal life after all the free time and lazy days? I really don't know but this year I decide at least to try.

  • First of all, a good organization. We have a lot of stuff to learn lately on the University and it is only the beginning, so for not forget about homeworks and exams i wrote down all the things I have to do and I sticked the little papers on the wall, that is how my duties are clearly visible and I will not forget about them!

  • Secondly I will try to do everything step by step, and no everything at once, like I used to do. Small ammont of work systematically, every day instead of all day of stress. When I'm stressed then I can't sleep, and when I can't sleep everything gets more complicated!

  • Finally, I will try to limit my time spent on social media or watching TV series, because it always distract me from everything I am doing. Every time I tell myself that I will only check my emails or I watch just one episode... but we know how it ends.
If you got some advices that you want to share, leave me a comment! I will be more than pleasure to try it on myself! :)

Earth without art is just eh

Art is an inseparable part of the world. I can not even imagine how we could live without literature, music, cinematography. Art represent not only the cultural heritage of civilization but also a humanity progress and improvement. Art help us to develop our minds, it let us think and let us dream.

Today I would like to show you some of my favourite paintings. I'm not an expert of painting, but I like to visit museum and galleries. I admire every exibition which I have a chance to see. When I travel and I visit new places I always pick one or more art galeries or museums and I visi them. It's a part of all journeys.

Francesco Hayez - The kiss, 1859
I saw this painting in Pinacoteca di Brera, Milano, during my Erasmus exchange, three years ago. I'd like the way they shows pasison in this painting, it seems like a goodbye kiss, the last and most important kiss.

Francois Boucher -The Baby Jesus and the Infant Saint John, 1758
I took the picture if this painting in Uffizi Gallery in Florence. I'm not a big fan of sacred art and most of the times the paintingd with Jesus are similiar and boring, but I loved this one immediately. The figures are so sweet, I could watch it for hours!

Caravaggio - Judith beheading Holofernes, 1598-1599
It is situated in the National Gallery d'Arte Antica in Rome. I havn't seen this ine yet but I'm planning a trip to Rome this spring so this is gonna by on my list. I love Caravaggio for the dark background of his paintingd and the amazing expresisons on the faces of the figures.

Picasso - Jacqouline with flowers, 1954
Deep colours and the profile of this charming women always make me smile. I found this painting on the internet and I could't stop to look at it. I even put it on my phone wallpaper.

Renè Magritte - The Lovers, 1928
What I like in this paintings is the mistery, the faces are covered and this is unsusual. When I think of this painting I think of the power of love. That nothing teally matters when two people are in love not even the faces.

William Adolphe Bouguereau - Elegy, 1899
I like the simplicity of this painting and this pale colours. They are in perfect harmony with the girls sad face. The painting is peaceful and quite.
